In India, buildings consume more energy than transport and industry. The international Energy Agency (IEA) statistics estimate that globally, the building sector is responsible for more electricity consumption than any other sector, 42 percent. We are at the stage of such rapid urbanization, that 66% of building stock is yet to come.

Thus, the main objectives of this exposition are to appreciate the significance and benefits of energy efficiency in the buildings, to have and overview of the different mechanisms for financing energy efficiency measures and to conceptualize an approach to setting out and implementing policies to facilitate energy efficiency in the buildings across the country.
